Check Engine Light Diagnostics in Glenview
This is an image of the dreaded “CHECK ENGINE LIGHT.”
This light illuminates when a component in the engine goes bad or you have an emissions failure. It is telling you there is a “malfunction” in one of the systems. When this illuminates you may also see the ”VSC” (Vehicle Stability Control) light up as well.
Sometimes the vehicle will not perform as well. That is because the computer disables some of the functions of the vehicle and has put the vehicle in “limp” mode. This is designed to allow you to “limp” to a shop. More times than not, if the vehicle still performs okay the light will be on as a warning.
Infrequently the light may blink. If this is the case, turn off the car and have it towed. Blinking means if you continue to drive it, you are doing more damage other than the current problem.
It is important to have this diagnosed and repaired by a qualified shop. Qualified meaning, a shop with the proper equipment to diagnose what has failed.
Many shops are trying to diagnose today’s cars with yesterday’s equipment. Doing this may not give you a proper diagnosis and also can be more expensive if it takes too long to figure out. We have all the diagnostic equipment to repair these issues from Audi to Volvo and everything in between. If you are having any of these issue goes here for an appointment.
